Flabaire talks about the beauty of warm up
Between co-running the Parisian label D.KO Records, holding down the bass in Secret Value Orchestra, fronting his more recent psych-rock project Aboukir, and making electronic music on his own as Flabaire, Ralph Maruani has quietly built a world all his own — melodic, cosmic, and unmistakably his.
At 30, he's already got three albums behind him, along with a healthy stack of EPs, guest spots and remixes. Flabaire has played all over France and well beyond — Tresor, Hoppetosse, Pratersauna, and plenty more.
His music has caught the ears of the artists you'd most want it to: legends like Move D and Point G / DJ Gregory, and a good number of his most accomplished peers. He dropped a standout EP on Jimpster's Cyphon Recordings, and more recently another on Rawax / Housewax — the kind that finds its way into sets by Ryan Elliott and Chaos in the CBD, and that Berlin's mythical Hard Wax simply summed up as "superb, warm grooving House."
