Wamanzi’s sunset picks

Wamanzi invites dancers to sink into the groove and discover the power of the slow burn. Reaching out from Lisbon his sound weaves global rhythms, downtempo textures, jazz-tinged moods and deep house warmth into a hypnotic tapestry.

His aim is to shape a sonic identity that resists rigid BPMs and celebrates spaciousness, where restraint becomes rhythm, and emotion moves just as deeply as the beat. His music is less a march than a glide, where each subtle shift draws you further inward, then out into the world again.

In his sets sound becomes sensation: textured, soulful, and timeless. This is groove for the dreamers and the dancers. In his journeys he invites you to slow down, open up, and get lost in the pulse of something beautifully human.

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME A DJ ?

Wamanzi ; I've always been curious about discovering new sounds from different parts of the world. My earliest memories of music are from family holidays, when my dad would play his favorite songs during long car rides. I remember standing on the back seat between the two front seats, completely immersed in the music and fascinated by his taste.

My dad grew up in East Germany, where Western music was heavily censored because it was seen as a threat to socialist values. Despite this, he would use an extended antenna to record broadcasts from West German radio stations onto cassette tapes. Those tapes became his carefully curated collection, and as a student he used them to DJ at discos, becoming quite popular for introducing music that many people couldn't easily access. Artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and 80's music like Madonna and Depeche Mode. So maybe it's in my DNA

A record that only makes sense with the ocean behind it:

Pete Blaker X Pleon - Tudududu (Love Over Entropy Remix)

A very interesting mix between balearic and deep house. It's hard to keep me engaged for 14min, this track does it well. What a journey!

The track that is golden hour to you

Jank & Simba - NLA

I have been digging it recently and I am absolutely in love with this track. A melancholic, deeply felt composition, such a vibe provider!

The label or imprint that always gets the sunset feeling right

Rigopolar - Crashes

I can't really committ to a label or imprint, but an artist , that constantly pops up on my radar is Rigopolar. He always takes me on a trip through space and time with his rough-edged and melodic sounds.

One track that bridges the warm-up into the night:

Canson - Ying & Yang

I love Canson, because he creates this mystical dance music, somewhere between downtempo and deep house. This track is perfect to introduce the pulse of the night.
